Waterproof Push-to-Talk Two-Way Radios

Radios are indispensable tools that can bolster every type of business. They keep your team connected to one another and are able to address clients and problems immediately. Unfortunately, not all radios are made the same, and many radios can be easily damaged by water. Luckily, there are radios designed to stand up to water, so you won’t have to keep replacing them.

So if you run an outdoor agriculture facility like a wholesale garden store, a ski resort, or even a manufacturing facility, you can rest assured that you won’t be replacing your radios as frequently with waterproof push-to-talk two-way radios.

Radio IP Rating

Radios’ durability to the outdoors, specifically their resistance to dust and water is connected to water displacing chemicals placed on the chassis of the unit along with their rubberized seals. Then, manufacturers test and rate their radios based on their durability using the International Protection, using the letter IP, followed by two digits. When looking for radios that can stand up to dirt, dust, and water, you’ll need to learn how to read the rating system that is designed for water and dust durability. Luckily, it’s quite simple.

This rating system is noted as “IP” followed by two numbers, for example, IP65.

The first number tells you how well the device resists damage from solids like dust and dirt and is rated from 0-6, 6 being the highest durability, 0 the lowest.

The second number rates the device’s water resistance and durability against moisture. This rating ranges from 0-8. A 0 rating means that the device cannot withstand water at all, and an 8 means that the device can withstand submersion in water up to 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes.
